On a numerical methodology to assess the fatigue life of connecting rods

چکیده

Although simulation-based fatigue analysis is a standard tool adopted in every sector including automotive industry, the design of engine components and motorsport applications mostly relies on simplified approaches supported by time-consuming testing programs. This manuscript proposes new methodology based individual speed damage estimation time history combined with Palmgren-Miner linear rule to predict state connecting rod. The track data, multibody simulation (AVL Excite TM ) combustion Boost are used generate initial variable trace that processed obtain block Stress amplitude estimated finite element (Abaqus) estimate from S-N curve cumulative model. method proposed demonstrated using rod case study duty cycle race Sebring international raceway. work shows suitability approach benefit terms accuracy prediction life.
